Without a doubt “there are so many exciting places in the world, so why did we decide to focus on Europe?” you might ask.
Having grown up in different European countries, our team is united by a wide range of common values and cultural overlaps. On the other hand, each country has its own history and traditions that can enrich our lives through things around us. For that reason being young European these days is not just about discovering your national treasures but also about learning what the neighbours can teach us too.
THE REASONS FOR DOING THIS PROJECT
There are at least two strong reasons that are appealing to the opposite sides of our nature as human beings – positive excitement about discovering something amazing as well as frustrations about lies and marketing trickery by some unscrupulous profit-seeking companies.
Each country has things that have been made for centuries to suit the climate, the materials used and to polish its usability to perfection. After discovering few of these, I realised that there are so much more to discover. And I can enhance my life as well as benefit from that expertise just by tapping into it. Everyone might have different reasons for being excited about something we mention on this site, but here is a post on 12 reasons why people buy Made in Europe.
Some companies talk a lot about long-standing brand values and tradition when in reality it is made in a far away land, from which it is sent straight to your home without ever even being near the place of those ‘tradition’ and ‘values’. The ‘long-standing’ brand can be simply bought for the sake of the name and recognition with very little influence on the actual product you might be buying. In today’s global world there are no clear cut lines, hence to understand the ‘made in’ definition a little better we prepared this post.
THE MAIN PURPOSE
But leaving our emotions on the side, we believe that the main purpose of this website is to offer an easier and more exciting way of discovering European made products. To learn what makes them different and make your mind on why you might want to get one or two things for yourself.
HOW ARE WE GOING TO DO IT?
We are pro-actively looking for companies and craftspeople that are making and producing in European countries. Where possible we are trying things out and hopefully will accumulate a longer list of personal reviews over time. At the same time, we are starting to visit the shops that sell things that we are interested in and put a quick video about it. So, in summary, we will challenge our convenience and will not settle on the cheapest or the easiest to get the product but will try to find a European equivalent. Such fun, lot’s to discover!
AND JUST TO BE CLEAR, THIS IS PROJECT IS:
. not racist
. not discriminatory
. and not angry on anyone
We are not saying European is the best or worst, we just saying it is different. How different? Discover it together with us.
