Made in France PRICE: from €40
Laguiole is an exceptional type of knife from one small remote hilly part of France, with just over 1000 inhabitants.

These days it is made in Thiers town nearby, and only three makers from here can produce an authentic Laguiole that even comes with a provenance certificate.
With a slim handle and a ‘la mouche’ decoration, its design is dating back to shepherds in 1909 and is now widely recognised worldwide.
‘La Mouche’ or a ‘fly’ is a decoration depicting the flies which used to escort local shepherds when they were moving between pastures.
Hence, a French cutlery maker with a unique design would be an ideal type of cheese-set to have when enjoying a platter of tasty French cheese.
