Mada in Lisbon

The maker behind Mada in Lisbon® brand is Inês – a young mother of two from Lisbon, Portugal.

She has been designing and making baby swings for over six years while tapping into local knowledge and skills. Many textile makers are recognised for the quality fabric in the north of Portugal, and she uses this experience and craftsmanship in her products.

Interestingly, Inês initially designed her first swing for her daughter, but when neighbours and friends started asking for one, that eventually lead to creating a Mada in Lisbon®.

Her popularity and success are due to her hard and work, and dedication:

“I invested all I could into this business. In the beginning, for example, I had to sell my car to pay for the testing of my newly designed baby swings. But that was important – as all parents I appreciate the value of European Safety Certificate (CE) for their kids’ toys”.

As a small European maker Inês is prioritising quality, innovation and “doing the right thing” over the profit margins and, at the same time, benefits the local communities and craftsmen in Portugal.
